Busy Week

We had a combined YM/YW activity on Tuesday. Sledding. It was dark outside, our only light was from a truck. The kids didn't care. (Tho' it did make taking pictures challenging. "Oh, crap, another picture of snow!) I managed to get a few good ones.

(Jake, Sadie and Adam)
I went down the hill one time. I have honestly not been sledding in about 22 years. One of our cute beehives knows I can't resist her. "Sister DeMille, will you pleeaasse go down the hill with me?" Yeah, she's the one I went into the freezing water at camp for. I'm happy to say we made it almost all the way down and it was my big feet that caused us to crash- not my big anything else.

Instead of basketball, our stake is playing dodgeball this winter. A nice idea for those (like my daughter) who are athletically challenged. The girls had a great time and can't wait for next week.

My favorite picture of the week. She may not be able to throw well, but that girl could catch and block the balls like a champ!
Tonight we have a planning retreat for the class presidencies. Have I mentioned how much fun it is to serve in Young Women's when your daughter is in?

Tribute to Mothers

This is a beautiful post written by my brother-in-law for my sister. It's a lovely tribute to mothers everywhere. (Have your husband read it.)

Ode to Patrick

I uploaded pictures from my camera and found these. I don't know who was dressing up our dog, but it shows what a good sport he is. We all love Patrick so much. We got him 5 years ago when my sister (very generously) gave him to us from her dog's first litter. He is named after the Spongebob character, but that's where the similarities end.
He's a very laid-back, quiet dog. He never barks at the door when someone arrives, mostly he just jumps on anyone who walks in. NOT a guard dog. He doesn't lick (thank goodness, I hate that). He's very patient with the kids, only growling when they aren't nice. Can't say I blame him. I think I growl more than he does.
He loves to sleep on the boy's bed at night. He likes to play fetch, usually at 9pm. He likes ice. Funny, huh? If you toss a piece across the floor, he'll chase it down. His favorite place is sitting on my lap. Guy teases him because he will sit outside our bedroom door if he knows I'm in there. The kids think he's their dog, but really, he knows who loves him most.

Happy Birthday, Noah!

My baby is 3 today. Wow, where does the time go? He was one of the best surprises I've ever received- not exactly what I'd planned to do when I was 40, in fact Guy and I had talked about going on a cruise for our 15th anniversary. Instead, I was hugely pregnant. I wouldn't trade him for anything, tho. (Not even for a girl, for those who know how sure I was that he was a sister for Sadie.) Nope, I love him to pieces and am so grateful we have him in our family. He's always been so good-natured, well, until now. Terrible two's make way for the terrrible three's! He's still fun to be around and all the kids love him and spoil him. It's easy to see who rules the house when a bunch of teenagers are watching 'Yo Gabba Gabba' on TV.
I see women who are pregnant and admit I miss that a little, but not enough to want to do it again! I love newborns, but am happy to hold other people's. No, we are definitely done and I'm happy about that. Noah was and is such a gift. He's my reward for not sending Max back where he came from. After the most difficult baby, I was given the sweetest one. Here's hoping that sweetness lasts. (Ask me how I feel in about 10 years.)
