Spring Break-What it isn't.

This week is Spring Break. I have a problem with this term. For one thing, it doesn't feel like spring. It did for the first two days, but now a storm is blowing in and it's COLD. Second, the word break. The definition of this word is: "a brief rest, as from work". Okay, this might be a break for my kids and their teachers, but it's anything but that for me. Here's what spring break should be as opposed to what it is.

It should be- sleeping in. It is- being woken up by kids at 6 am.
Should be- fun activities. It is- dental appointments and errands.
Should be-relaxing in the morning. It is- cleaning up a child with diarrhea.
Should be- Kids helping with chores. It is- house messier than usual because they're home.
Should be- enjoying spring weather. It is- turning up the furnace and pulling out the coats-again.

I love my kids and do enjoy having them home, that said, Monday can't come soon enough!

Ya, I was actually thinking we could get something done with the days off. What was I thinking? Silly me. At the moment Nik is hangin' with a friend up stairs, Kowhai has two friends down stairs and I'm hiding in my new craftroom that desperately needs organizing and I'm just not getting to it. The friends will sleep over, I MIGHT get the kids to do some chores when the friends leave at who knows what time, then of course they still have their lives so I'll need to taxi them around for that, and aren't we lucky to have them under foot while we try to make the house presentable cause the families coming over for Easter (which we still need to do some preparation for)!
I think I should be the mean mom on the block then no one would come over and we'd get a lot done!

I know, but who wants to be the mean mom?

Boy I'm glad I'm not the only one who has these struggles! Thanks for the chuckle!
